STF and the Felipe Martins Case: Allegations of Maneuvers and Obstacles to Defense

In the past week, retired judge Sebastião Coelho exposed serious allegations on social media involving the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and the case of Felipe Martins, a former international advisor to the presidency. Coelho highlighted a series of difficulties faced by Martins' defense, particularly the denial of access to crucial information from the investigation that could influence his freedom.

Since July 1, Coelho reported that TIM provided the STF with geolocation data that could be crucial for the case, indicating the locations where Martins had been since December 30, 2022. However, this information has not yet been included in the proceedings, despite repeated efforts by the defense to access it.

"It is incomprehensible how an urgent document can take three days to reach the responsible minister's office and still not be made available for inclusion in the case," criticized Coelho. He also mentioned the defense's frustration at not being able to view this evidence since last week, even after its formal submission to the court.

Felipe Martins was arrested on February 8, and since then, the defense has faced obstacles that hinder a fair analysis of the case. "There is no longer any justification for keeping Martins in prison. He has repeatedly proven his innocence and refuted the allegation that he had left the country last December," argued the lawyer.

Coelho criticized the actions of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who is responsible for the case, suggesting that other instances of the STF need to intervene to ensure a fair decision. "The time has come for a deep reflection on how far the institution can allow arbitrary actions and unnecessary persecutions," he stated.

Felipe Martins' defense remains active in the pursuit of transparency and justice in the handling of the case while awaiting further developments that could influence the outcome of this controversial legal issue.
